Microsoft recently issued a warning to its users to be on the lookout for fake antivirus programs that appear to come from one’s browser. In many cases these fake programs pretend to scan your computer telling you that you have viruses and other malware. However, these scan results are totally bogus and users are told that the malicious items found cannot be removed until they buy the program. If the user decides to buy the fake program their information and credit card information is then stolen.
Many of these rogue security programs are installed by deceiving the user into thinking they are installing a plug-in from a website, visiting a Facebook link or opening an image attachment in your email. Others simply install themselves by exploiting flaws in your browser while you are on a website. This is why it is important to keep your browser up-to-date and avoid visiting less than reputable websites.
DonÂ’t know your browser version, check it here.
One such fake antivirus is called Antimalware Doctor. This program can be tough to remove if you accidently get it. Antimalware Doctor constantly tells you that your computer is infected and asks you to activate the commercial version. It is very important to get rid of this Trojan malware as soon as you get it. If you find yourself battling this malware program or simply want to make sure your computer is up-to-date please contact Tekniq to remove it by calling 913-491-4600 today!
